$150m deepwater aquaculture farm backed by Chinese government

In the media: $150m deepwater aquaculture farm backed by Chinese government

“$150m deepwater aquaculture farm backed by Chinese government”, Dec. 11, 2017, Louis Harkell.

De Maas SMC, a firm operating in the offshore oil and gas services industry, is partner in a CNY 1 billion ($151m) local Chinese government-backed project to build a deepwater aquaculture farm[s] off the coast of China. “The moment you move away from shore, it's almost impossible to have a small piece of equipment," he said. "You'll have to change the entire supply chain of everything, of your logistics, your smolt production, your feed supply. "Automatically it becomes a higher stakes game. So once people decide to move further offshore and see that, okay, this becomes a bit more of a serious enterprise, then different players will come to the fore.”
